Silver Lake – 10 Things to do

Silver Lake Architecture

Silver Lake is located in the central region of Los Angeles, California. The area is rich with history and is probably best known for its restaurants and clubs.

Silver Lake gets its name from the Silver Lake Reservoir. This used to be home to drinking water, but has since been disconnected from the city’s water and has plans to be turned into a public swimming area.

Walt Disney saw the prominence of Silver Lake in the 1930s, when he built his first large studio here. It is now the site of Gelson’s Market on the corner of Griffith Park Blvd and Hyperion Ave. Walt Disney is not the only notable name to invest in the area. Many musicians, actors, actresses, and performers have established their homes in Silver Lake.
